The West Yorkshire Playhouse was opened in 1990 and enjoys bright modern facilities including a restaurant and bar, a Cyber Café, meeting rooms, and office space.

The Playhouse has a busy thriving atmosphere throughout the day and evening and is used by community groups, businesses and members of the general public as well as by theatregoers.

The Restaurant

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 7.30pm.

The Playhouse’s restaurant and bar provide a pleasant environment for pre-theatre meals and drinks, and is also a perfect venue for meeting, chatting, or escaping from the bustle of the city for half an hour. Grab a snack throughout the day choosing from soup, sandwiches, paninis or one of our delicious desserts, or enjoy our Fairtrade coffee and chocolate. Hot meals are served from 12.30 to 2pm and 5.30 to 7.30pm, choose a main meal from our daily menu and indulge yourself with one of our tempting desserts.

The Bar

The bar is open every evening whenever there is a performance. As well as enjoying a pre-show drink you can beat the queue and pre-order your interval drinks, which will be ready and waiting for you when you come out of the auditorium. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights you can enjoy your post-show drinks until midnight.

Our wine list represents the best from both the New and Old World countries with a wide selection of classic and popular grape varieties and a balance of tastes and styles. As well as Guinness, Carlsberg and Tetleys, we also have regular guest beers on tap.
